Boys in-line skating, tea set
Samuel really enjoys in-line skating now. He wears Joseph’s skates, Joseph wears David’s and David wear YowCH’s.
We picked up a beautiful and undamaged tea set from the dump under our house. Things people throw away…

Our new West Coast Wolves uniform:
We had soccer training in our new red West Coast Wolves uniform. David helps out with coaching.
That’s Joseph in training.
And that’s Samuel. Nowadays, YowCH trains the youngest age group.
Here’s a photo of Esther at her piano class.
And here’s YowCH in his running garb. He now runs 2.5km once on a weekday after work and 5.0km on Saturday morning.
And here is Grace lying in the pool.
Today is the Monday holiday after Deepavali. We spent some time training Samuel on cycling and skating.
YowCH and Joseph trained him on the bike, he can go short distances while pedaling and balancing now.
Samuel will probably cycle well after a few more sessions. David and Joseph were also playing basketball.
We also brought out the in-line skates and let him try again. After a few falls, he can get up on his own and move slowly while maintaining balance.
Esther, Joseph and YowCH also rolled about a little.
David prepared breakfast.
Another round of dinner for Samuel, this time with the Yongs, who treated us to Lao Beijing.
We had popiah, of course!
Here are the presents Samuel received, a chicken game from Grace, a 3-D maze puzzle from the Yongs, colour pens and waist pouch from YowCH.
Joseph’s iPhoneSE (which was David’s previous phone) was in use since he had his own phone line about 1 year ago. The screen had a big black spot and numerous white-out lines, and not very legible, but Joseph wasn’t complaining. We asked around for a secondhand phone, and Gene gave him her old iPhone7.
Samuel celebrated his 6th birthday in school one day ahead on Friday, 25 Oct. YowCH, Grace and Joseph joined him in Alfa Centre at about 3:30pm.
He asked for a mango cake, with lots of mango. Most of his classmates were around.
A nice happy face during the fun celebration.
The cake was good!
He then distributed the Paw Patrol bags that was made by Grace, which Samuel helped in putting the ropes in.
Here is a photo of Samuel at home just as we stepped into 26 Oct 2019:
On the actual day, we had lunch at Carrara, a cafe near our home.
Another round of celebrations in church, together with his classmate Jonathan.
And then, dinner with grandparents and Gene (while Esther and David were attending a meeting in church).
Grace made draw-string bags for Samuel to be his birthday giveaways to classmates. They got Paw Patrol cloth to make the bags, and Samuel helped flip the bags inside-out and also thread the ropes.
We visited the Jurong Bird Park on Saturday morning, 5 Oct 2019, from 8:30am to 1:30pm. It was Samuel’s first time to the Bird Park.

The weather was good, and Esther and Joseph had a great time taking photos of the birds, while Samuel enjoyed the shows and the birds, especially parrots.
We went for our regular swim, and our swim coaches bought us Tiong Bahru bao and lomaikai. Very nice lunch at the pool.
A look at our huge turtles. They are now about 30cm long at age of about 6.5 years. Huge indeed. A friend had a turtle since since young, and posted in Facebook that the turtle had died after 29 years! Very long life.
In the afternoon, football was cancelled due to the haze. The Yongs joined us in making the final batch of mooncakes. We had jackfruit, grapefuit, lime and coffee flavoured lotus paste, and some red bean paste.
Again, very colourful mooncakes!
In the evening, we cooked a simple dinner of lemon-baked chicken, clams in white wine soup and veges to go with pasta. We ate dinner over the Singapore Formula 1 race.
Very nice to watch F1 on the projector, big and exciting.
With the Indonesian fires causing haze, it is not so good to run. But we had a lower haze rating on Wed night, 18 Sep, so YowCH wore a mask to make his usual 2.5km run.
His run was quite slow, difficult to breathe through the mask.
