Samuel’s last day in Infant class, David’s birthday (last week)

Today is Samuel’s last day as Infant (2-18 months). He joins toddler class (with school uniform!) tomorrow, 1 April.

We forgot to post David’s birthday celebrations last week. We had a dinner at Brotzeit (his preferred food) on Monday evening and gave him the Blockopedia (Minecraft info book) on Tuesday (his birthday).

Weekend update

Our church cell group, eCG, had our lo-hei at the Leongs’ place on Friday night.

Esther and Grace made some really nice cupcakes and shared them.

On Saturday, at about lunch time, YowCH’s parents arrived with Loon, Daren and Yen Li. We had lunch at Goldhill Chicken Rice.

Then the Tans went to visit relatives, and the Yows had dinner at Great World City’s Crystal Jade. With the CNY crowd, the adults were seated away from the children, at two distant tables.

After dinner, we sent parents to Bishan.

On Sunday, we spent some time at home in the morning, and we took some photos of Samuel happily walking about. Here’s Samuel taking a fun-stroll outside home.

As usual, we went for our swim before lunch. The boys then went to the Community Football League friendly matches at Rainforest, Turf City.

David was rather tired after the swim, but he played very well.

Joseph was not very focused and didn’t play too well, but he tried.

For dinner, the whole family (parents, us, Yongs and Tans) met at Star Vista and had seafood at Boston Seafood Shack.

This morning (Monday) is the start of David’s 3-day camp with his school. Here’s David with his camping bag fully packed.

The Tans and parents returned to PJ after breakfast.

Samuel’s new car seat, bedbugs update

Samuel upgraded to the forward facing car seat today. He is very happy with it. With this car seat, he can look forward and has a better view out of the window.

Our fight against the bedbugs is doing well, the larger bugs may get through the sticky double-sided tape around our mattresses, but once they feed (filled with blood), they get stuck, and we nail them in the morning. The young bugs have no chance of crossing the tapes.

With the young not feeding and can’t grow, and the adults being trapped, we reckon that the bugs will be gone soon. We are still using the ‘natural’ repellent-spray to further fight against the bugs.

Weekend: pizza, soccer, party, bedbugs

Saturday evening, after church, our friends called us over to share 2 VERY large pizzas that were wrongly ordered.

Very nice dinner and fellowship.

At home, you can see Samuel very interested in the terrapins.

Sunday morning, YowCH went with David and Joseph to the Football Fiesta at Mattar Road. Nice pitches, but pitches are small and the games management was poor.

Both David and Joseph played well.

Leaving football at 12:00 (the event finishes at 3:00pm), the boys joined Grace , Esther and Samuel at the Lees’ place to celebrate Elliot’s birthday. Nice food, drinks, cakes and a movie to go!

Grace left early for work starts at 12:30. After the party over lunch, Esther went for ballet while the boys went home to shower.

An update on the bedbugs, the double sided tape is very effective in stopping them from reaching us when we sleep. We will keep it up for a while more and hopefully solve the problem.

YowCH’s MRT TEL MPS, Samuel walking

24 Jan 2015 marks the official ground-breaking of the MRT Mount Pleasant station under YowCH, part of the Thomson-East Coast Line. Works had already begun on site several months ago. The ceremony was shared with Stevens station, which is not under TYLin.

Minister for Transport, Lui Tuck Yew was the guest-of-honour.

Today, Samuel was walking unsupported for quite a good distance. He also enjoys the playground rides.

Samuel walking

Sometime along this week, Samuel started taking a few steps on his own, unsupported. At age close to 15 months, a bit later than the norm, but we will start him on hiking trips earlier…

Church carolling at hospitals, Christmas dinner, Samuel standing

Our church has annual carolling at Alexandra and National University Hospitals. This year, YowCH was with David and Joseph at AH, and Esther was at NUH. YowCH played the electric guitar in the entrance hall, with David on cajon and Joseph singing and tambourine, while Esther was playing the ukulele with the youths at the lobby.

After carolling, we had Christmas dinner with mum, dad and Gene at Cedele, Great World City.

Upon reaching home, Samuel stood up by himself – the toy handphone must have been very exciting for him!

Dinner with the Lims at Fat Boy’s, Samuel updates

We had dinner with the Lims on Sunday, at Fat Boy’s. We ate lots of burgers and onion rings.

Some updates on Samuel, he is still not yet standing and walking, but he eats biscuit by himself, and likes to read car magazine Torque.

Samuel is also very attracted to music, he will join the rest of the family when we practice our Christmas carols.

Henna tattoos

YowCH painted some henna tattoos on the children.

After the henna dried, we rubbed the stuff off, but the stained part wasn’t very dark.

Samuel in school

Here is a photo of Samuel in his play area at the childcare centre, Learning Vision at KKh (which is actually at Alfa Centre).
