Swim – butterfly

The children has gotten to swimming butterfly. Firstly, a photo from last week, of Samuel making a good dive:

This is David on butterfly, with Esther doing freestyle. The two had the same timing.

This is Esther doing butterfly:

And Joseph:

And Samuel, trying to do butterfly:

After all the hard swim, we had lunch with coaches Francis and Tobby at Henderson Kay Lee (roast meat):

YowCH’s runs, dinner, Joseph sewing, swim & soccer, and booked Endgame

YowCH missed the mid-week runs for two weeks and ran 5.0km on Saturday mornings, instead.

Last Sat was a drizzly morning, but YowCH still ran in the wet and cool weather. With hearty breakfast after the run.

We had a nice dinner at Sorrento after church, nice to have dinner with Grace’s parents and Gene.

Joseph likes the sewing machine. He managed to make a bag for himself, with guidance from Grace and mom.

On Sunday, YowCH managed to swim non-stop 20 laps (1.0km) in free-style, a new personal best. But it was quite slow, having taken about 35 minutes. In the afternoon, we went for soccer training for Samuel, while Joseph played in a friendly match against Bukit Batok East (lost badly).

We booked to watch Avengers: Endgame, this Wednesday night (1 May 2019). The cost for the family is $82.50, which is very high. This is the reason why we buy Bluray discs, at $30 to $40, each movie is still much cheaper than a family outing to the cinema. Plus there are many special goodies packaged in the Bluray or DVD.

Visit to JB, Wave, D’Pristine

Grace and YowCH took leave on Monday, 15 April, to get some banking work done in JB, followed by assembly of furniture in the new condo, Wave at Marina Cove. We managed to pack 6 stools, 1 bench, 4 chairs, 1 mobile rack, 1 metal rack and 1 shoe shelf into the Odyssey, together with YowCH, Grace, Samuel and Grace’s parents.

After breakfast and banking in JB, we went shopping for household items at Daiso, Komtar JB.

Samuel was helpful in setting up the furniture.

For lunch, we had beef noodles and porridge at Bukit Indah.

After lunch, we went for more shopping at Tesco and then visited D’Pristine to check on the post-rectifications of the defects.

We left D’Pristine at about 7:20pm and reached home at 8:45pm.

Jelly bears, Ikea furniture and dinner with Yongs

Our church friends in Melbourne brought us a nice big (1 kg) bag of jelly bears!

Samuel and Joseph are now able to assemble Ikea furniture for the family.

We had dinner with the Yongs at Tunglok Teahouse (Square2) on 10 April 2019.

Disney on Ice

Grace brought her mom, Esther, Joseph and Samuel to watch Disney on Ice. A little holiday treat. David and YowCH not interested.

West Coast Wolves hosted South-west League on 10 Mar 2019

The West Coast Wolves hosted the South-west League games at Clementi Stadium on 10 Mar 2019.
Samuel played a in the Under-6 team, and participated quite well.

Samuel’s team took 2nd place of 4 teams.

After the games, he sat around while Joseph’s games were played.

YowCH was assigned to manage the Under-15 team, and they play at the last sessions of the day.

Joseph’s team faced very tough opponents and they were knocked-out quite early (playing 3 games and losing all).

But Joseph played well during the games, especially in the third game.

The Under-12 team got medals for participation.

The Under-15 team got first place.

Overall, West Coast Wolves did quite well in this league.

It was a hot morning, and playing from 7:00am to 2:00pm, we went over to Sorrento for lunch followed by a dip in the cool pool.

Samuel’s piano recital

Samuel had his first piano recital just 3.5 months since he started lessons with D-Flat Studios.

That was Aaron Goh (owner of D-Flat) introducing the session before many little children performed (mostly piano, but there were two singers).
Samuel’s turn was almost at the end, and he introduced himself and the songs he was to play. That’s his teacher, Valerie Tjota.

His playing wasn’t too bad, but rather soft (perhaps not confident).

Incey Wincey Spider, the last song had Esther accompanying him.

Supermoon Samuel, views from bedroom

Supermoon (full moon and nearest to earth) happened on Tuesday, but the moon was still very full on Wednesday night. YowCH brought Samuel out to see the moon and had some fun at the “O” of Block 38.

Saturday morning views from the bedroom window, before the regular run.

This is YowCH’s office tower.

This morning, YowCH ran 4.0km, and David did 2.4km.

Weekend update

Samuel built our Year-of-the-Pig Lego set.

And Samuel has grown a bit more, he is above the 1.0m line now.

We had “Hawker” food with Grace’s parents after church. Interesting pairing of hawker food like chilli crab, satay, mala chicken or chicken rice with burger! Not too expensive but nice.

Sunday evening, we had waffles and spaghetti at the nearby Carrara, a small reward for Samuel playing well at football training.

Sam Lego, Boys’ long distance swim, Ezra’s birthday BBQ

Here is Samuel with his Lego set, he can follow the instruction and build the three different models:

On Sunday, 20 Jan, the three boys had their distance swims. Samuel had 8 laps, Joseph had 60 laps and David had 80 laps.

That was the start, spirit was high and good!
Samuel completed 8 laps (400m) in 31 mins 38 secs, way below the 60 mins passing time.

Joseph completed 60 laps (3.0km) in 1 hour 33 mins 55 secs, which is just beyond the 1 hour 30 mins passing time. Examiner says he may still pass if the exam board agrees to take into consideration his height (short) and age (10, most take 60 laps at 12).

David completed 80 laps (4.0km) in 1 hour 38 mins 12 secs, which is below the 1 hour 45 mins passing time.

Esther, Grace and YowCH also swam to accompany the boys, and to pace for them. Esther swam about 20 laps total, Grace did 32 laps and YowCH 10 laps (very hard swims, after recovery from 2 weeks of flu). Overall, the boys did very well for their swims! We had a nice lunch at Henderson after the swim.

In the evening, we visited the Lims for BBQ, a birthday party for Ezra. The evening started with the children in the pool.

Then it was great food!

We contributed mala chicken, Bloody Mary, cider and shandy.

The fellowship and food was great.

That’s the birthday photo with the children.

The night before, Grace made a draw-string bag as present for Ezra. The bag was done very nicely, and the Star Wars fabric was really cool.
