Joseph & Samuel walked to school, TVB series

The car air-con broke down when we went on our trip to PJ for CNY. We sent the car to the workshop for repairs once we returned to Singapore. So o Wednesday morning, Joseph and Samuel walked to school while YowCH walked to work.

Esther, David and Grace took bus to school/work.

Here are some TVB wuxia series that we have watched (except for The Duke of Mount Deer, 鹿鼎記, which we just started watching).
Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils, 天龍八部
The Return of the Condor Heroes, 神鵰俠侶

New Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre, 倚天屠龍記
The Duke of Mount Deer, 鹿鼎記

We have posted The Legend of the Condor Heroes, 射鵰英雄傳 earlier.

YowCH on HBP medication, Joseph’s fracture follow-up

YowCH got his health check (done on 13 Dec 2019) on 21 Jan 2020 and consulted a doctor at Whitecoat clinic which is in the building next to his office. Started high blood pressure medication on 22 Jan 2020.

YowCH and Grace brought Joseph to KKH for a follow up on his finger fracture. The fracture needs a cast, and likely out of action for several weeks. Here are the X-rays.

The finger are still swollen after 1 week.

He chose purple for his cast.

West Coast Wolves annual meeting and dinner

Our soccer team, West Coast Wolves had the annual meeting and dinner on 19 Jan 2020. The children had their weekly games/training, while the parents met at West Coast CC. David helped with the training, and Joseph had to sit out because of his fracture. Here is a photo of the meeting to discuss training needs, strategies, development and plans for football leagues.

At 5:30pm, the children joined the adults at West Coast CC for dinner. We catered nice food.

Grace helped get 2 sets of ‘yu sheng’ (we paid for these). Unable to find the prepared sets, she bought the ingredients from Sheng Siong and sliced the raw vegetables in Church before bringing over to the CC.

We had fun at the party.

Joseph fractured little finger

Joseph was playing in a basketball league game (representing his school) on 16 Jan 2020 and he fell badly. His little finger on the left hand had a minor fracture. After the game (GESPS won), the teachers brought him to KKH A&E. YowCH picked Samuel from school and met them there. Grace was there, too.

The finger was swollen, and the doctor applied a buddy bandage and the thermo-plastic cast. Looks very serious for a small fracture.

The next day, he was back in school (ignoring his 4 days of MC).

Soccer training, arrowroot, Redhill Close

Our first soccer training in 2020 on Sunday, 5 Jan. Joseph and Samuel both trained well.

On Sunday night, David helped cut and fry arrowroot for snacks. Not easy to slice them evenly and thin with a knife, and frying takes a long time.

Here are some final photos of Redhill Close, our home from 2001 to 2005, before they are demolished (likely some time in 2020). YowCH regular runs and the daily commute to Gan Eng Seng Primary School still goes past these flats. We stayed in Block 10 unit 04-122, the corner unit at level 4 furthest from Jalan Bukit Merah.

First day of school for Samuel and major exams for Esther, David and Joseph

Samuel enters primary school today, joining Joseph at Gan Eng Seng Primary School.

And here is a photo of all the children on the first day of school. This is the year of major exams, Joseph taking PSLE, David taking O-levels and Esther taking A-levels.

We pray for God to bless them with focused minds for their studies.

Joseph’s birthday

Joseph turned 11 today. We got him some professional yo-yos and a mini basketball hoop.

In the morning, regular swim:

And in the afternoon, regular football, with friendly match against Bukit Batok East.

In the evening, dinner at Handlebar with the Yongs:

He starts his 1-week Maths Olympiad classes at NUS on Monday. It will be 9:00am to 12:30pm daily until Friday.

Boys in-line skating, tea set

Samuel really enjoys in-line skating now. He wears Joseph’s skates, Joseph wears David’s and David wear YowCH’s.

We picked up a beautiful and undamaged tea set from the dump under our house. Things people throw away…

Soccer in new uniform, Esther at piano, YowCH runs, Grace swims

Our new West Coast Wolves uniform:

We had soccer training in our new red West Coast Wolves uniform. David helps out with coaching.

That’s Joseph in training.

And that’s Samuel. Nowadays, YowCH trains the youngest age group.

Here’s a photo of Esther at her piano class.

And here’s YowCH in his running garb. He now runs 2.5km once on a weekday after work and 5.0km on Saturday morning.

And here is Grace lying in the pool.

Short trip to HCMC, Vietnam 14 to 17 Oct 2019

We took a short holiday with Joseph and Samuel during the PSLE marking holidays from 14 to 17 Oct 2019. We visited Ho Chin Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam from 14 to 17 Oct. Esther and David did not go as they had regular school.
