Joseph in hospital – day 3

This morning, Joseph looks much better, the fever is gone and the nose running less. But the eye is still swollen.

He ate one tub of yogurt that YowCH brought along and seems to be getting back his appetite.

[Evening update]

Here’s Joseph all ready to leave the hospital, at about 5:45pm.

And here’s Joseph having a little noodle and some juice for dinner at home.

Thank God that the whole episode wasn’t serious. Now we just wait for the doctor’s final clearance pending results of the blood culture. Joseph is now on hospitalisation leave until 16 Oct.

Joseph in hospital – day 2

We visited Joseph before school/work. He is still bubbly as before, but weaker (not eating solid food). The swollen eye is still there, but he is smiling most of the time.

That’s David and Esther with him before we left.

Here we are again after work/school. Grace picked David from kindergarten and YowCH brought Esther. Then we had dinner at the KKH Kopitiam.

Prelim findings is that there is nothing serious, but no confirmations as of now.

We’ll update again tomorrow.

Joseph in hospital

After a few days of fever and bad runny nose, his right eye turned red. He did not eat well for the past three days, too. After checking with Gene, we brought him to KKH and he is now in hospital, having admitted at about 9:00pm into Ward 86, Room 9 (single person, very luxurious!).

From the photos, he doesn’t look that bad, but he has been quite miserable. Gene helped us that that family photo.

New ukulele and some home reorganising

Over the last weekend, YowCH bought a new tenor ukulele which is bigger and better sounding. The new ukulele costs $85.60, and with it, Esther can play together with YowCH, making it easier for her to learn to play. You can see the new one is between the guitar and the first ukulele ($30.00).

Joseph is also quite interested in the “tar”; that’s what he calls a guitar.

We have also done some furniture reorganising in the house. With Grace’s parents’ old Gorm set used to make a shelf for Lego in Room 3 last Saturday. Thank God that Yan and Ping Quen came by for a while on Saturday, and PQ’s help was certainly appreciated to get the Gorm set up.

In Room 2, we have prepared the space for an upcoming double-decker bed, which will allow the three children to room together. The sliding bed shall be tucked in to be a spare bed.

Recently, Joseph has been asking to carry his own bag (he wants to copy his older siblings) and we have given him David’s backpack.

Children’s updates & happy birthday to Grace

Joseph pulled the stool to the parapet of the balcony and climbed on the stool to see cars on the road; and he did that all by himself. Smart guy, but rather dangerous…

Nowadays, for the last feed at night, he can down 10 ounces of milk (full bottle).

David is enjoying some Lego time while Esther does her homework, with some help from Besta (the Chinese-English digital dictionary).

These last three photos were taken using our new Tamron 17-50 f2.8 lens bought two weekends ago. The lens has very good colour contrast and is very sharp, but the S5pro camera under-exposes by about 0.7 to 1.0 stop on this lens.

And today is Grace’s birthday! “Happy Birthday”.

NUS Bridge on STOMP, Joseph the ice-cream king

Whoa! YowCH’s NUS Link Bridge project is featured on STOMP, obviously written by someone pretty malicious and ill-informed. The comments are all blasting the person who posted. Currently the bridge is about to be completed, with 6 more segments to go (out of 29), and should be structurally done by end-June.

Also, we see Joseph the ice-cream king. Here, he is eating a Mini Cornetto blueberry at grandparents’ place after dinner.

Just a note, he took a few bites, but didn’t finish the whole thing, the whole Mini would have been too much for a little boy.

Joseph in Toddler Class

Today, Joseph started wearing uniform to school as he joined the Toddler Class. He got promoted from Infant Class to Toddler Class at 17 months old.

Weekend with Ngs

Esther, David and Joseph had a fun weekend with the Ngs (Nate, Hannah and Daniel) last saturday.

Some outdoors fun with all six children:

300m walk for Joseph

It may be surprising, but Joseph walked from where we parked the car in the multi-storey carpark back home all on his own two feet, carried only across the road once and walking one floor up the carpark stairs. That’s 300m or about a third of a km. All that in 15 mins, which is about 1.2km/h.

He even stopped over to greet the cats on the sidewalk, witnessed a rat crossing the path in front of him and waved goodbye to an old lady at our lift.

Just last week he wasn’t even walking on his own.

Joseph is toddling

At 15 months old, Joseph is now toddling.

He started trying to walk just after CNY on about 18 Feb. Last night, he covered long distances with some help from Esther and David:

Today, Joseph is able to walk unassisted for over 15m at each go, and steps right over the ‘threshold’ of our kitchen entrance.
