Mid-autumn, YowCH’s resignation from KTP

On 1 Oct 2020, mid-autumn, the younger boys had lunch with YowCH and Grace at Tiong Bahru Plaza, with dessert!

Then we spent some time making mooncakes at home. Always very colourful!

In the evening, we went out for a walk, with our lanterns.

YowCH had also submitted his resignation letter to KTP on the night of 30 Sep 2020, dated 1 Oct 2020. With 3 months’ notice, his last day would be 31 Dec 2020.

Recording KFC worship, YowCH swab test, pineapple, Grace swim

17 Aug, we had simple lunch at home.

Then we recorded a worship video for church juniors, KFC. Samuel was leading!

For dinner, we ordered food.

Grace and Esther went out with Grace’s parents and Gene for lunch.

This is the F1 Paddocks near the Singapore Flyer. After the first swab test at Changi, YowCH did his swab test every 2 weeks here.

We got some chicken hearts, grilled them with herbs and spices, and clearly, Samuel loves them.

We also got a pineapple.

On the weekend, we had our regular swim. Here is Grace swimming:

We had dinner at Alibabar after our swim.

Fried bananas, chopping board, YowCH run in rain and sites, Sam craft

Food 200810, fried bananas for lunch:

Grace had regular brisk walks in the evening.

Dinner.

YowCH bought a chopping board (mail-order from China), good stuff. After unpacking, the board was soaked in water for 24 hours.

It feels very good to chop on the thick timber board.

YowCH had leftover pasta for lunch on 11 Aug.

Simple lunch on 12 Aug:

And we bought noodles for dinner.

YowCH runs strictly to his schedule. Starting August, he runs 3x 4.0km weekly, on mornings of Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, even when it rains.

After running, he does his gym routine.

Samuel had fun at home doing some craft we bought from China.

Later that evening, we had dinner at home with Grace’s parents and Gene.

Food on Sunday, 16 Aug:

Monster Curry at Novena Square, we sat at 2 separate tables.

Racial harmony day, the boys in traditional clothes.

Esther and YowCH having Parents-Teachers video meeting.

Samuel attending church service online.

Grace’s Singer sewing machine is cleaned and packed up, now that she has gotten the more powerful Futura CE-250.

Samuel at Chinese tuition, he needed some extra lessons just before leaving.

Grace’s birthday

We had a simple brunch at Sorrento with Grace’s parents and Gene

And a nice dinner at home.

Grace’s favourite food, durians!

Ikea table and chair

YowCH and Grace made a trip to Ikea on 19 June after they reopened for business to buy a table and a chair.

Joseph assembled the chair very well.

Unfortunately, he slipped and dropped the tampered glass table top and it smashed to pieces.

YowCH took some shelving planks from our stash and made a wooden table top.

Works well.

Singer Futura sewing machine with embroidery

Grace bought a second hand high-tech sewing machine on 8 June 2020, the Singer Futura CE-250 for $590 (including transport). This machine is about 10 years old, but very lightly used by the previous owner. The original listed price was US$900. It comes with an embroidery attachment, but it needs a computer to run the software.

The seller threw in some goodies like scissors, threads, and accessories. Also came with 2 DVDs of Singer software.

Trying it out for the first time.

Many stitching patterns and even automatic button hole.

Trying out embroidery, using Esther’s old laptop. The software runs on Windows 7, needed to set compatibility backwards to make the software work.

Using a built-in clip-art, success!

Then we got adventurous and downloaded a picture of Totoro, and programmed it for embroidery

Successful, too!

Grace ordered some embroidery thread from Carousell sellers, and they arrived really fast (like the very next day).

Made a KTP logo onto the SJ issued mask.

Some fun stuff we made:

The phoenix for Joseph looks very nice, you can see the details.

This machine now replaced the basic sewing machine that Grace had been using.

Sports in May

We continued our sports to stay healthy, even with the lockdown situation.

Joseph went for some runs, 1.6km.

YowCH was regular in his 2.5km (3x per week) and 5.0km (Sundays).

Samuel went in-line skating (2.0km) while Grace went for brisk walks of 2.0km).

YowCH was also regularly doing weights and planking.

Instead of running, sometimes Joseph also skated.

Esther also joined in the skating.

As shown in the software records on the phone for his runs, YowCH has very regular in his runs, not skipping even in the rain.

Only David got lazy in May.

Covid-19 “Circuit Breaker” situation mid-May

Here’s Samuel having a class meeting, from home.

Grace made many face masks for the family to use once the lockdown ends.

We had our cell-group meetings on-line.

The family also recorded songs for the church virtual choir.

This song is Jesus Shall Reign, and YowCH, Grace, Esther and Joseph participated.

We also had mahjong time. The children loves the game.

Well, Samuel wasn’t ready, and Grace took over.
