Birthday cake for Grace’s mom

We got a birthday cake and had small celebration at Gene’s place on Sunday night.

David managed to cut the cake into 9 pieces (almost all equal in size).

New phones for David and Grace

With the contracts expired and eligible for handset change, and the old phones were starting to give problems, Grace and David changed phones shortly after Esther did.

David got his iPhoneSE on 4 Oct 2016 to replace his HTC Desire 510. Here’s the iSE with UAG armour case, not seen is the matt surface tampered glass screen protector.

Grace got her Samsung S7 (silver) also on 4 Oct 2016, which is the same model as YowCH’s S7 (black), to replace her S5.

Grace later got herself a transparent red UAG armour case.

Soccer at SportsHub Stadium

On 17 Sep 2016, Saturday, we attended the PA Sports event at Sports Hub under West Coast Wolves. We arrived early and roamed the new National Stadium and had breakfast before we played football.

But the soccer pitches (8) were very small because there was a Zumba event taking up more than half the field.

Samuel happily joined the team in their warm-up session.

Here’s a view of the stadium from our seating area.

There were also some fun-items for children like a bouncing castle.

Here are some action shots of David and Joseph.

Odyssey collected, David PSLE Orals

Kah Motor registered the Odyssey on Wednesday and managed to issue the car to us on the morning of 18 Aug 2016. We met the agent to go through the car at 10:15am and drove off at 11:45am.

Here’s one last look at the Isis (we bought in 2009) that served us very well for the past 7 years and 4 months:

The Isis was driven 161641km in total.

At collection, here are the two cars with the same plate:

The Isis now bears SLF1912M.

Here’s the new car (more info on the Odyssey page):

Some internal views, with Grace, Joseph and Samuel (Esther was in school, David was taking his PSLE English Oral, and Joseph had PSLE leave).

And here’s a look at the panel at night.

Thank God for the new car, nicely comfortable for passengers and driver, but not as aggressive driving due to the CVT and weight of the car.

David’s PSLE English Oral is on 18 Aug, and Chinese Oral on 19 Aug. Then it will be the final preparations for the PSLE written papers.

David’s art prize, new soccer uniform

David was awarded a prize for his artwork for SG51. The prize was presented by MP Indranee at 118A Jalan Membina on Sunday morning. We had breakfast courtesy of our Chinese tuition centre.

That afternoon, the boys collected the new soccer uniforms, which is blue. Unfortunately, the game against Jurong Green is cancelled due to lightning warning.

On Monday night, we had dinner at Alibabar, near our home at ARC, with Grace’s parents. Here’s Grace with Fucking Hell.

And here’s a resigned man:

The children got to taste the beer.

Esther and David musicians for worship

Esther played the guitar while David played the cajon as musicians for church Kids for Christ worship leader Ezra on both Saturday and Sunday.

That afternoon, as we prepared to go for football, we hung out at the playground for a while:

Soccer friendly game, David injured

The West Coast Wolves hosted a friendly game with Ulu Pandan and Bukit Batok East at Clementi Stadium. WE had nder-7, under-10, under-12 and adults. David played under-12 and Joseph was under-10.

David and Joseph played goal-keeper and defender at different times.

The games were fun and fast, both David and Joseph played well. 15 minutes to the end of the day, David (goal-keeper) made a slide tackle to push the ball away from a striker, and his left ankle was injured by the striker falling on him. With the possibility of a fracture, we tool him to see Gene and then Gene drove YowCH and David to NUH for X-ray under A&E. Thank God that all is fine, not a fracture, and he will only need to bandage the ankle for a week.

David’s Malaysian IC

YowCH took David to Johor Bahru on 9 May (Thursday) to get the Malaysian IC done. It was quite a nice adventure, where they drove to Woodlands and parked, walked to the Singapore CIQ, took a bus to cross, and then a taxi to Setia Tropika where the Pusat Pentadbiran Awam is currently located.

We arrived at 8:45 and got the registration done by 9:30. After that, we roamed the streets a little and collected the new IC at 11:55. Rather fast service.

We had two meals, breakfast near City Square, and KFC lunch in City Square.

After lunch and a little shopping, we got to the car and drove to YowCH’s sites at Punggol and Sengkang for a short while before returning home.

Swim, run, Joseph on ukulele

We had pool fun again:

YowCH still runs sporadically, this is run at West Coast:

YowCH and Samuel took a walk in the Jalan Rumah Tinggi Park to measure the length, we walked average speed of 3.3km/h on the 430m track.

Joseph started playing the ukulele properly, and now he can manage about 10-15 common chords, good enough to play songs like I’m Yours, As The Deer and When You Say Nothing At All.

Here are Esther and David chilling in the Sorrento pool after church.

And Samuel chilling at our flat level 1:

Samuel also had some time at the playground at Kim Tian while waiting to pick Esther from tuition.

Long distance swim exam for Esther, David and Joseph

Today the children had distance test in swimming. 1.5km for Esther Yow and David within 1.0hr, and 800m for Joseph within 45mins. Esther did it in 56mins06secs, David in 46mins27secs, and Joseph in 44mins37secs. All passed and very well done.
Grace Chan also swam 700m total, the most she ever did in one session.
