David face painted

Gan Eng Seng Primary School had a Fiesta on 30 June 2012. David got his face painted and so did his best friend, Seva.

YowCH’s bike, cycling at Bishan Park, dinner with Yongs

Yesterday, YowCH bought a GT mountain bike, black. Nothing too great, but certainly better than rental bikes.

We had some fun biking around the Rumah Tinggi neighbourhood.

Here’s how the three bikes were loaded onto the car bike rack:

Then we drove over to Bishan Park to cycle about and to meet the Yongs.

For dinner, the Yongs treated us to a nice Western meal at Cornerstone, Bishan Park. It was meant for David’s birthday.

The strain of the three bikes on the Isis spoiler was just too high, the 3M tape couldn’t hold it down and peeled.

However, upon taking the three bikes out, the spoiler recovered. Thank God!

Here’s how the bikes are parked at home (just outside our flat, at the garbage chute area).

Updated 6 April 2012: our neighbour advised to remove all removable things and to chain the bikes securely as theft is rampant, which we duly did so. The bike seat, lights, pump and tool kit is now in the house. They even gave us an additional chain! Really nice guys.

David’s birthday cake at home

We had a small celebration at home on 25 Mar 2012 for David’s birthday (24 actual day) with a small Angrybird cake.

You can see that the largest portion is for David.

Cycling at ECP with eFG for David’s BD

Today is David’s birthday, he is now 8.

We went to East Coast Park with eFG for a morning of cycling fun. We met up with families of Quincy, Samuel Lim, Alvin, Hong Kian and Rachel. David invited along his best friend, Seva. You can’t miss Seva, he is blond (Ukrainian).

After a while of cycling, we had a break at Carl’s Junior.

But Grace, Joseph, David and Seva was not with the group, they were at base camp near Raintree Cove. David was playing with Seva at the breakwater.

Joseph was very keen on cycling, too.

This is the ‘car’ that the ‘baby’ gang drove, what the older children call the ‘green snail’.

After cycling, we had lunch with Seva and his dad at Burger King.

We thank God for good weather and fun time with friends. David received some presents from Seva (the bag and bottle resembles that which Seva is using).

Children cycling

Today, the children went cycling around the neighbourhood.

Joseph went quite fast.

Esther and David learned to cross drains, jump kerbs and Esther could actually cycle along on the kerb for about 8m!

Then we went off to get a drink at Ronnie’s chicken rice shop.

Weekend activities and meeting YowCH’s cousins

Last weekend, Esther and David worked together and finished the Lego Medieval Castle set.

They had fun cycling around the neighbourhood, too.

Joseph was also able to put together the Lego wizard set (meant for 5 years plus) with very minimal guidance.

Today, we met up with Wei Yeu and Wei Lian for dinner, then visited Yan’s family. Wei Lian, based in Taiwan, is in town for Medical conference.

David’s bicycle

David had some practice on Esther’s bike, and learnt quite suddenly to cycle without training wheels. Actually, mum had to run beside him to be ‘supportive’ during his training.

As promised, we got him a bicycle on yesterday (on 5 Dec) when he demonstrated that he can cycle.

He can now make tight turns left or right, and rides smoothly.

Catapult

YowCH built a catapult when he was about 10. Using similar materials, Esther and David helped build another one:

The lump of Blutack flies about 1.0m, and given the catapult is about 10cm high, the range is about 10x the height. A real catapult would be about 10ft high, meaning this will throw a decent stone about 150ft. With higher rope tension and a stronger frame (glued instead of lashed with ropes), the range can effectively be 3 times more!

Bikes for Esther and Joseph, David’s shield

As Esther can ride a bicycle properly, we bought a new mountain bike for her, lovely to see her going around in a good bike. We also got Joseph a real bicycle with training wheels. He took to it very naturally and had great fun.

David will get his only if he can drop the training wheels for good.

Here, you see David’s first version of the Captain america shield:

With a little help from Grace, the second version is much better.

Horse done, space marines started

Esther and David finished painting their horse on 8 October:

And YowCH, managed to assemble 10 Space Marines:
