Esther and David painting miniatures

We started Esther and David on miniatures painting with some larger models, first, which are horses from the Empire Pistoliers/Outriders set. The horses are less detailed and larger, easier for the beginners.

After assembly before painting:

Joseph can wink and more activities at the “O”

Look Joseph can wink:

Refering back to an earlier post on 28 Aug 2011, you can see that the children are very happy with the “O”, ie hole-in-the-wall at Block 38.

Visit Alexandra Canal Park

Last Saturday, while waiting for Grace to finish work at 5:30pm, we went to Alexandra Canal Park for a short walk.

The canal park is part of the Pubic Utilities Board’s efforts to upgrade the waterways and catchment to a fun area, under the Active-Beautiful-Clean program.

The park runs through the Tanglin and River Valley area, plenty of high-end residential condos around.

While it was a hot afternoon, the children had fun walking, running and chasing birds.

Durians

Mum and dad made a short overnight trip to Pontian and returned on 3 Aug with 5 durians (RM12 only) which we ate at dinner.

The children were great helpers in opening them:

And Joseph loves to eat durians:

There’s a bandage around David’s head because he fell down in school on 2 Aug and knocked his head (the wound is at the back).

Clay Angry Birds

Last Thursday night, Esther, David and YowCH had some fun with coloured paper clay, making Angry Birds:

The tiny blue bird at the back was done by YowCH and the front white and blue birds were done very slowly and carefully by Esther. The rest were all put together very quickly by David.

Esther’s birthday dinner

On 5 June (Sunday) we had dinner with mum, dad and Gene at Cedele, Great World City to celebrate Esther’s birthday:

Esther turned 9 on 6 June 2011.

Esther’s new guitar

We bought a child-sized guitar for Esther, after trying it out in the shop (Suntec). She was able to play the six strings quite OK.

Now we have 4 string instruments in the house – 2 ukuleles and 2 guitars:

Joseph’s first hiking trip in Macritchie

Today we went for a short hike in Macritchie, Joseph’s first.

The page with lots of photos is here.

Photos, Joseph, Siu Hei is one & TYL photo-walk

Just an update in the middle of the month. We had finally printed photos, since Feb 2010! The total for the stack was about $1,100.00!

Here, you see Joseph practicing a new trick, mouth stretching:

We joined Yan and PQ in celebrating Siu Hei’s first birthday last weekend:

Finally, YowCH, Esther and David had a walk this morning with 3 of YowCH’s colleagues at Wessex Estate for some hobby photography:

We have a small dedicated page here or you can click on the photo above.

David’s first day of primary school

Thank God for watching over David from birth until now, he has just entered primary school today. We pray for him to be a good student at school and learn to be a useful person to society.

Here’s David and Esther after first day of school (yes, David’s bag is larger and red)
